The Department of Economics is one of the pioneering departments at The Elegant Arts and Science College. The Department of Economics was established in the year 2021. By providing an undergraduate honours degree in Economics, we aim to educate the students about how choices are made by consumers, firms and how these decisions aggregate into economy-wide phenomena. The Department of Economics offers honours degree with wide specialisation to economics which include fiscal, financial, international etc.

The aim of the Economics Department is to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of economic principles , theories and their applications in the real world context. This would include fostering critical thinking skills, analytical abilities and research capabilities in economics to prepare students for careers in various fields such as academia, government, banking and other private sectors.

About the Course

BA Economics is a 4 year graduation programme with eight semesters that follows the syllabus designed by University of Calicut under Four Year UnderGraduate Programme (FYUGP) for undergraduate curriculum. Along with the major course in Economics, the program also considers three pathways which includes I) Three year UG programme (minimum 133 credit) II) Four Year UG honours programme (minimum 177 credit) III) Four year UG honours with research programme (minimum 177 credit). The course also includes Ability Enhancement Courses (AEC), Multi-Disciplinary Courses (MDC), Value-Added Courses (VAC), Skill Enhancement Courses (SEC) and different minor courses. The 7 th and 8 th semesters are solely concentrated on BA Economics Honours degree programme and Research. Mission

We assist the students to understand the interrelation between the economy and society. The department provides an excellent background for those who plan carriers in Government and private enterprises.
